The Spot Challenge #143- Sketch Challenge-Fine Art Floral Suite

The Spot Challenge this week, challenge #143, is a Sketch challenge. We could design any card we wanted using the sketch layout above. If you are feeling creative, you can click the link before this and join me. The challenge is open until Sunday, January 3rd at 12PM CST.  Winners will be announced on January 4th.  Each Tuesday a new challenge is posted to help keep our creative juices flowing.

I decided to make a card using the brand new stamp set called Art Gallery that will be available on January 5th.  I also used some of the DSP from this suite line called Fine Art Floral DSP. It is stunning and so pretty.  This entire suite of products is gorgeous and I cannot wait to play with the Gilded Leafing but tonight I simply used Gold Embossing Powder as it isn't quite as messy.  This is a two-step stamp set.

My card base is Merry Merlot, cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  My layer is Night of Navy and that is cut at 4" x 5 1/4".  My strip is DSP is cut at 2" x 4".  I also cut out the 2nd largest circle in the Stitched Shapes Dies in WW for my stamped image.  I adhered my DSP to my Night of Navy layer and then adhered that to my card base using Tombow, but use the adhesive you like best.

On my stitched circle, I stamped the solid flower image from the stamp set in Terracota Tile ink but I stamped off before inking it on the circle.  For the two-step, I used Versa Mark ink and stamped it over top of the solid image. I then used gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I also stamped my greeting of Happy Birthday from this stamp set in Versa Mark and gold embossed it as well in the bottom right corner on the Night of Navy layer. I used the gold cord that is retiring January 4th but is available in the US and on sale for $4.50 right now and wrapped it around my fingers about 4 times and secured on back with some seal plus. I then added dimesnionals and popped the circle up on my card. To finish off the front I used Gold Gilded gems for some bling!

For the inside I used a piece of WW and stamped the solid flower again in Terracota Tile, again stamped off. I then added a greeting from the new stamp set Happy Thoughts in Night of Navy.

I hope you enjoyed my card.  If you need any of these supplies I used and do not have a current demonstrator I would love to help you out and get you started with paper crafting.  You can click my Shop Now link above under my blog header and it will link you to my store! I can also send you catalogs if you need them just shoot me an email to stampinwithkrissi@gmail.com

Thank you for stopping by today and Happy Stampin' everyone. Happy New Year!

Paper Crafting Blog Hop December 2020- Gift bag using 12x12 DSP

Hello everyone and thank you for joining us today for our monthly Blog Hop!  We have talented Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrators from around the world that are participating today!  We hope you enjoy the hop and make the full circle to get some great inspiration for gift packaging ideas using our wonderful products!  You may be me and need some last minute Christmas packaging ideas, but these ideas can be used for any holiday or celebration by changing DSP and stamp sets and embellishments! So keep that in mind!  You may have joined me from Terri's blog, and she had a wonderful project to share with us today.

I have decided to show you how to make a handmade gift big using our 12x12 DSP. You will need two full sheets of 12x12 for this bag that are the same.  You will also need one piece of cardstock cut at 2 7/8" x 5 7/8", and color doesn't matter as it is covered up!  This gift bag is a great way to use up retired DSP that you may have laying around!  This bag is very simple to make with some score marks, a few cuts and adhesive!  I am using the Heartwarming Hugs DSP from the Mini catalog!

To begin with you will need the simply scored scoring tool for scoring. If you don't have this you can use the score tool on your trimmer as well.  For your first score you will want to ensure you have your paper correct for the design that will the flap so you will have to watch orientation when doing this based on your design!  So for mine, I want my stripes going vertical when bag is sitting upright, so they will be horizontal when I score at the 2" mark.  Once I do that I will turn my paper 90 degrees and score at 3" on each of the remaining 3 sides of the DSP!

You will now use your bone folder to burnish the 2" score line on each piece and adhere them with whichever pattern you want for the flap facing out. I used Tombow as it gives wiggle room.  Once those are adhered, burnish your other 3 sides that were scored at the 3" mark folding the opposite way so the outside of your gift bag will show!

On the 3" end of your two pieces that are opposite of your folded flap, you will do some cutting.  One one piece if your cardstock you will cut up the two middle lines that are score and that is it.  On the other one you will cut up the two middle score marks and then remove the squares completely.  Here is what you are left with. You will also adhere your 2 7/8" x 5 7/8" piece of cardstock here as shown to the piece you cut the squares away.

We now assemble the gift bag.  Again I used Tombow glue as it gives a bit of wiggle room to line things up.  Start by adhering the squared to the inside flap. So your adhesive will go on the outside pattern.  I always use my bone folder to secure my glue.  Then take the flap where you adhered the cardstock and put adhesive on that and place it in the bottom of the other piece of paper.  Then add adhesive to the two flaps and glue them inside as well. Secure with bone folder rubbing.  And just like that we have a gift bag and just need to dress it up a bit!!!

Because our patterns match adding holes for ribbon is easy! Ensures they line up on both sides. I went down three rows of pattern, in 7 and used my take your pick tool and poked through on each side.  You will then add some ribbon on each side and knot it inside each hole, the length will truly depend how long you want your handles.  I cut two pieces at 12" each and have nice handles. And you now have a gift bag. Attach a tag or decorate as you wish! Mine will stay like this until I figure out whose gift is going in it! :)

I hope you have enjoyed my project I shared with you today.  You can surely make a gift bag for any occasion using this layout and our wonderful DSP we offer. I have chose to use  brand new products from Sale-A-Bration coming on January 5, 2021 or now if someone chooses to join my team! I want to get my customers and team members excited to earn FREE products with their purchases starting next month through February.

I started with a Misty Moonlight card base, cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" for my card.  I then took a layer of Whisper White cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and used the Subtle Embossing Folder to add texture to this layer. I then used the brand new Flower & Field DSP cut at 4" x 5 1/4" for my focal point image.  My sentiment, in Shaded Spruce is from the brand new Sale-A-Bration set called Heal Your Heart. My main sentiment on the front of the card uses a layering square from the Layered Squared Dies and I heat embossed in White Embossing Powder.

I finished the inside by adding a sentiment from the same stamp set and a piece of DSP from the same set after I loved it and chopped it.

For the front I added Misty Moonlight DSP around the Whisper White layer and tied and bow and added it as well. I finished it off by adding Basic Rhinestones.

Enjoy and if you don't have a USA demo I would love to help you! Simply click my list for emails or Join now button above or contact me directly at stampinwithkrissi@gmail.com.
