Paper Crafting Blog Hop- October 2020- All About DSP- Fall Card

Hello Crafters and thank you for stopping by today as myself and fellow Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrators from around the world take you on our monthly hop! This month our main focus is to feature Designer Series Paper (DSP) as there is a variety of them on sale this month through October 31st!  I am sure you will see a great variety of papers used this month and will for sure want to buy some of them!  You may have arrived from Terri's blog and she made a wonderful project for us!

I decided to feature the Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP from the Mini Catalog for my card this month.  I paired it with the Arrange a Wreath Stamp Set and Wreath Bundle Dies from the Annual Catalog.  While this is not one of the DSP packs on sale, several are and you can always add this one at full price because you save on others! You can never have enough DSP in your craft stash!

I decided to feature 3 different patterns of this DSP and do a Scrappy Strip technique card that was made famous by Bruno Bertucci, Kylie's husband in Australia!  I started with a base layer of Early Espresso CS cut at 4" x 5 1/4", and then cut my scraps of DSP at different angle and widths a bit longer at about at least 5 1/2" to allow for room to adhere them! The first one you glue is most important as you want a straight edge on one side of your CS to start.  You then just glue pieces across the CS, your silicone mat comes in way handy for this as the glue won't stick to it!  Once all glued allow it time to dry before cleaning up the edges!

While that dried, I used the Brushed Metallic CS and die cut out 2 of the thin leaves wreaths from the dies, and numerous leaves in Mint Macaron, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze CS.  This will become the focal point on the front of my card!  I also stamped the sentiment Give Thanks from the Arrange A Wreath stamp on Very Vanilla CS and cut it out with my 1 1/2" circle punch.

Once my Scrappy Strips dried, I trimmed off all access pieces and then used my Paper Trimmer and trimmed the entire piece down to 3 3/4" x 5" for a nice, clean look.  I then adhered that to a piece of Early Espresso CS cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and then adhered that to a piece of the Brushed Metallic CS cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". TIP: Cut out the center of the metallic CS with a big rectangle die to not waste this beautiful paper as it won't show!

I used Liquid tombow glue and a sponge and my silicone mat to glue my wreath and then adhered to my scrappy strip layer.  It glue it but not solid.  But when I adhered the die cut leaves with dimensionals and glue dots that helps to secure it. I centered my sentiment in the center. I didn't add any more embellishments as the metallic paper is plenty!

For the inside, being my card base is Cajun Craze I used Very Vanilla cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and just adhered a strip of the DSP cut at 3/4" x 5 1/4" to right hand side!

If you YouTube the Scrappy Strip technique you will see how easy it is to do! It can be a bit messy but the end result is terrific!
