Paper Crafting Blog Hop June 2020- Happy Birthday Theme

Hello and Welcome to our June Monthly Paper Crafting Blog Hop!  Thank you for hopping with us; we are glad to have you here.  Our theme for this month is Happy Birthday! We all need birthday cards to send all year long so what a perfect theme for this month!  We have talented Independent Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrators from around the world that are all participating this month.  You will see wonderful projects all from the brand new Annual Catalog.  You may have arrived from Sandra's blog and her project was amazing or you may be starting here with me.  Either way we are glad you are here and be sure to complete the whole hop!

I have chosen the brand new stamp set called Celebrate Sunflowers from the new Annual Catalog that went live this month!  It is a stunning set, and has some great sentiments in it as well.  I will be featuring the dies that coordinate with this set as well and they are named Sunflower Dies.  I will also be using a few of the new In-Colors as well to make this card.

My card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" and is the new in-color Just Jade.  My first layer is going to Cinnamon Cider, another new in-color and it is 4" x 5 1/4" from the 6x6 Designer Series Paper Pack. I also cut a strip of 1/2" left over to put inside to complete my inside and will trim off the end once layered on the whisper white.  My final layer is Whisper White, cut at 3 3/4" x 5" for the front and then 4" x 5 1/4" for the inside layer. You will also need scraps of whisper white to stamp and cut your sunflowers for the card as well.

For the sunflower and the leaves, I decided to use VersaMark ink and White embossing powder and then I cut them out with the coordinating dies.  I colored them using my sponges and ink pads.  For the sunflower I used Cinnamon Cider for the inside, and Bumblebee, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody to color the flower. For my leaves I used Pear Pizzazz and Granny Apple Green.  This is called the emboss resist technique and I love the result.

To assemble the card I used tombow glue for all the layers to adhere them together, and then I added some of the new Just Jade ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo pack.  I used dimensionals to adhere my sunflower to the front, and stamped my sentiment in Cinnamon Cider.  To finish it off I added some of the new in color enamel dots and added some wink of stella by flicking it on to the card. For the inside I simply used a strip of the cinnamon cider DSP and left the rest blank.
